Day 1: Launch Day!

Our Sacred Journey has begun! 💜

Espoir and I launched our 2,552 mile thru-paddle of the entire Mississippi River, Source to Sea (Lake Itasca in Northern Minnesota to the Gulf de México) on Sunday, August 21st! 🛶

We are going to decolonize the concept of thru-paddling by winding our way slowly and intentionally to the ocean, spending time in Community along the way. We hope to empower and inspire other people to join us on the river by increasing the representation and visibility of Women and Women of Color on the water ❤️‍🔥

Thank you so much to all of our friends and family who came out to see us off! It was so special and sacred to be surrounded by loved ones as we took our first paddle strokes together.

Extra love and gratitude goes out to Jaida Grey Eagle and Sahan Journal for jumping in a canoe as we paddled across Lake Itasca to the humble beginning of the Mighty Mississippi! ✨ All photo credits for this post go to Jaida for the Sahan.

You can follow our journey right here, on instagram, or on facebook.

See you on the water! 🌊
